MALIAVIN, Filipp Andreevich
b.1869, Kazanki village, Samafa Province; d.1940, Nice, France
Studied in the icon workshop attached to the Monastery of St. Pantaleimon on Mount Athos in Greece (1885-1902), then at the Academy in St. Petersburg (1892-99). Member of the World of Art (from 1899), Union of Russian Artists (1903) and the Berlin Sezession (1904), participant in exhibitions from 1895: World of Art (1899-1903, 1906, 1921-22), Union of Russian Artists (1903-23), Berlin Sezession (1903, 1904), exhibition of Russian art in Paris and Berlin (1906), Exposition Universelle in Paris (1900), international exhibitions in Venice (1901, 1907), Rome (1911) etc. Lived in France from 1922.
