LEBEDEV, Vladimir Vasilyevich
b.1891, St. Petersburg; d.Leningrad, 1967
Studied in the studio of Frants Rubo (1910-11 ), from 1910 attended the Higher Art School attached to the Academy of Arts, then attended the school of painting, drawing and sculpture of M. D. Bernstein and Leonid Shervud (1912-16), all St. Petersburg. Participant in exhibitions from 1909. Taught at the Svomas in Moscow (1918-21). Worked on the magazines Satirikon, Argus etc, and in the poster department of the Petrograd section of the ROSTA Windows (1920-22). Artistic director of Detgiz, the children's publishing house (1924-33). Worked on the TASS Windows and for the magazine Red Army Soldier.
