クストーディエフ、ボリス・ミハイロヴィチ
b.1878, Astrakhan; d.1927, Leningrad
Studied at the Academy in St. Petersburg (1896-1903) under Ilya Repin, then travelled on a grant from the Academy to France and Spain (1904). Founding member of the New Society of Artists (1904) and member of the World of Art (from 1910). Participant in exhibitions from 1896: Spring Exhibitions at the Academy (1900-03), Vienna Sezession (1901, 1908), New Society of Artists (1904-06, 1908), Union of Russian Artists (1906-10), World of Art (1911-24), AKhRR (1923-26), exhibitions of Russian art in Paris (1906, 1910, 1921) and Berlin (1906, 1922), Exposition Universelle in Brussels (1910), international exhibitions in Munich (1901, 1903, 1909), Venice (1907), Rome (1911), Dresden (1913), Malmo (1914) etc. His works were shown in Tokyo in 1926. One of his most outstanding works, Girl on the volga (1915), is now in Japan. Lived in St. Petersburg, paying numerous visits to Western Europe.
