CHUPIATOV, Leonid Terentyevich
b.1890, St. Petersburg; d.1941, Leningrad
Studied in the studios of Yan Tsionglinsky and M. D. Bernstein (1908-18), from 1916 worked under the guidance of Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, studied at the Petrograd Svomas (1918-19, 1920-21), from 1919 assistant in Tatlin's studio. Participant in exhibitions from 1916: World of Art (1916-18), Society of Artist-Individualists (1922), Heat-Colour (1924), Community of Artists (1925-27,1929), Union of Contemporary Artists of the Ukraine (1928). Taught drawing in the school of the Baltic Fleet in Novgorod (1919-20), at Kiev Art Institute (1926-28) and at the VKhUTEIN/Institute of painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (1926).
